HvH Interiors is a place where discussions are had, information is shared, help is offered and inspiration is cultivated - all revolving around interior design. I believe in making our personal spaces the best they can be - in order to feel comfortable, confident, efficient, creative ... in order to feel at home.

I think it's crucial and necessary to design our homes with the intent of a good life. Yet, I also feel we are quite fortunate to be discussing such things here, when some people on the planet don't even have a house to live in.

Therefore, I would like to turn your attention to a few housing charities that do good work for the homeless - whether it be building or rebuilding homes or offering services to acquire and keep a home.

If you are involved in or know of any others, please do share. You can post a comment below or send a link via email (holly@hvhinteriors.com), Twitter or Facebook. I will happily add them to the list at the bottom of this page.

Remember, whether you volunteer, donate or spread awareness, you are making a difference. And that matters. Because home is important.

Best wishes!
Holly.

  1. Holly, this is wonderful. I was involved with Habitat for Humanity in college, and it's such a meaningful organization. I need to get more involved! Thank you so much for sharing this.

  2. Holly this is great. You're so right, some people don't have a home to live in or reside in a cardboard box.

I volunteer for Crisis (homeless shelter) over Xmas when I'm around and it always humbles me. The first time I volunteered many years ago serving up Christmas lunch, one man commented saying: this is the best meal I've had all year! That motivated me to keep giving....to keep serving...

  4. This is wonderful Holly. I worry that all our blogs and info are a bit too self-indulgent and self-absorbed. This is well put and opens your blog and thoughts out to the wide world

  5. Home is also your sanctuary. It doesn't matter if it's gothic, victorian, or country chic. As long as you feel comfortable and secure, then it's a true home.
