Let‘s Hang Out - DIY Ideas for the Home

It‘s been a while since I did a random DIY roundup. Looking through my pins, I saw a clear theme. It seems I must like the idea of hanging DIYs. So what do you say, are you in the mood to hang out a bit?

1. A rustic clothes rack. Even though it‘s not exactly my style, this image reminds me that hanging clothes to dry need not be an aesthetically disturbing experience. I don‘t have a clothes dryer, nor do I ever want to have one. But when I pull out my ugly foldable metal contraption, I always wince a bit. You know what I mean? There‘s no instructions to go along with this idea, but it seems like something pretty simple if you like working with wood a bit. Now all I need is a designated laundry area to beautify with something like that. Image via ... NO IDEA! Sad but true. If somebody knows, please share. I love Pinterest but this is exactly why I also hate it sometimes. Signing up to Pinterest should come with an intro course on how to pin properly and respectfully. Seriously! But I digress...

2. An homemade chandelier with a romantic twist. This lamp belongs to a couple who salvaged a large branch from the tree the got engaged under. Later, they wrapped some naked bulb lighting around it and voila! A different kind of lighting fixture. Again no instructions, but seems simple enough. 3. Leather strap hanging bookshelf. I like this idea because it feels raw and industrial. Leather, books, straps ... the combo is delicious. You can find it for sale here, but if you're feeling a bit adventurous, it could probably be easily realized as a DIY project. 

4. Upside-down hanging plants. I like how simple, fresh and modern these look. See full, how-to instructions on DesignSponge.

5. An interesting way to display pictures. It would probably be easy to make or get your hands on a thin grid-like structure. I imagine that the taller, the more dramatic the effect. I also imagine it propped up an a wall, but I guess you could hang it too. Then choose your favorite pictures and attach them with some beautiful paper clips. 6. Clothesline pulley bedside lamp. This is an especially interesting idea if you don‘t have room for or you just don't want a bedside table lamp. Or if your electrical ceiling boxes are not at the right place and you can‘t move them. The pulley could add just the right amount of industrial flair to a space, if you like that kind of thing.
