Culinarium - Featured Online Shop

Are you ready for this week's featured online shop for interiors? I'm really excited to present to you:

Culinarium makes kitchenware and accessories with the goal of improving the enjoyment of our everyday - encouraging us to be our best at home. For me, one glance at their products was enough to be convinced. I love the simple, smooth, grey, concrete appearance of a lot of their products. I just can't help but picture them living happily among the wooden and stainless steel accents of my kitchen, popping out the colours of foods against their silky greyness. Just lovely.

Based in Massachusetts, USA, Culinarium was founded by Jordan Castro. Driven by a love for cooking, entertaining and working with interesting materials, Jordan realizes his ideas for his products from start to finish. Although the items I've chosen above look like they are made of concrete, they are actually made of a unique cementitious mix developed by Jason himself.  The result is a material that has physical characteristics closer to that of ceramic or aluminum. Pretty cool, right? Each item is made one at at time, with patience and care. It's not unusual for a product to sit in a mould for about a week before being hand burnished and finished with two coats of carnauba wax. Because they are made one at a time, you can be sure that each item is unique. Therefore, slight variations in colour and texture are to be expected, ensuring character and authenticity. Here's a fun fact:

"Because cement cures at an asymptotic rate,
all our concrete products actually get more durable
as the years go by!"

Also good to know is that the materials used to create these beautiful products are mainly eco-friendly.

Visit the Culinarium online shop or their Etsy shop to learn more and see more of their product range.

Do you like today's featured online shop?

Xx. Holly.

  2. I love your online curation.

I totally admire what they are doing and the care with which each product is made and the eco-friendly materials... but this is too starck for me! Concrete look alike? For the colour pop queen? I think not!!

Hope your week is going well, lovely Holly! xx

  3. Like you, I appreciate the smooth concrete look they have. I'm a huge Heath Ceramics fan and these pieces are very similar in their simplicity. Noticed that this company is in Massachusetts...Hurray for the USA. [wink] As always, Holly, another great find.
