Kitchen of the Fitzroy Residence by Templeton Architecture via La Boheme |
Designed by Templeton Architecture, it is probably the nicest kitchen I've seen in a long time. Everything I lust for is here. Wood, concrete (grey!), sleek white, straight lines, modern but warmed by wood, stainless steel, marble (ok, I don't go ga-ga over marble, but it's really nice in this context). I like how the industrial stools inject a casual element into an otherwise maybe too serious space.
But, there are always a few things I would tweak. I don't think I would have cut the backlash like that - it throws my eye off a bit. Also, the tall wooden cupboards at the back are a bit imposing for my taste. And the fridge is a bit far away, no?
What do you think? Dream kitchen? Or not so dreamy?
Xx. Holly.
Super sleek! I would add a few pops of colour through kitchen accessories and then it's all fine & happy for me:-)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great kitchen space Holly. It has so many of the elements that I love. That floor is beautiful. I would change the marble worktops to something a bit darker, perhaps more grey to complement the wood. xx
ReplyDeleteWOW! Perfect use of different materials.
ReplyDeleteI think I know someone who will like this ;)
agreed about the backsplash...I'd have extended it up to the shelving which is a cool addition. but, i do enjoy the mix of materials here. would love to see it in use...by me. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, it's very dreamy! Would love to have that kitchen! hx
ReplyDeletewonderful in many ways... btw did I hear the word marble somewhere here?... Jesus!... hehe... just kidding dear ; )
ReplyDeleteIt is quite nice as used here, but somehow my choices would have been different, too.
What I miss here is a little human balance. Wonderful straight & sleek lines, that though are a little harsh & aggressive.
Some curves incorporated would have been much appreciated by me at least.
I love the materials, the colors, the overall look but there is this magical touch that is not there. Perhaps I could help them with some styling? lol ;)
ok off I have to go, already surpassed the time I can afford to devote enjoying myself on the wed today. I miss posting on my own blog!
Soon I hope!
PS: I forgot, I adore those windows on the right. Yes pretty please they are awesome!
Enjoy your day pilot's wife! xoxo :*)
Hey there! What a lovely surprise to find all your comments here awaiting publication this morning :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for taking the time to share your opinions about this kitchen - I love to hear what personal aspects work and which don't from such a lovely bunch! So interesting!! You guys made my day :)
Wishing you all a lovely day in return Xx.
Oh yes, the brigade is here...
ReplyDeleteOk, I actually think it's a beautiful kitchen and there is a balance of warmth. COLOUR is missing and some HUMAN features.
Apart from that it's allright:)
I agree with your splashback comments and am happy Mr & Mrs Grey basically agree. xx
LMAO!
DeleteI agree, it's missing the Holly touch ;) - enter splash of personality and "maybe" a dash of colour (even though white, brown and grey are most definitely already colours) - it's hard to tell from the photo but I think the range is blue!
Big fat hugs your way Tina Xx.
Yes, dreamy kitchen. Though, I do love it more in the first head-on shot. The second shot is when I start to notice all the things you point out (not feeling the back splash either). I would gladly take it though, no question. It also needs a touch of something whimsical. It looks like the stove is light blue??
ReplyDeleteWhimsical! Agreed. I think the stove is blue ... I wish we could see it better. If it is indeed, I like the kitchen even more :)
DeleteXx.
