random DIY ideas

Hi folks. I've been looking through my bookmarks and realized it's probably time for a little random DIY ideas round up. I've collected quite a few since last time so I am sharing here. DIY-ing is a great way to add a few personal touches to your home. I'm not extremely crafty but I think it's nice to look at things I made myself. It promotes a type of pride you wouldn't get from something you bought. Every home should have a few DIY elements I think. Do you?

Ok. Let's begin shall we?

First up is a cute paper heart garland, perfect to hang around or decorate your table with. Just in time for Valentine's day and a nice add on to my last post about a paper cup garland. Get full instructions at Shelterness. If you like this, you may like their round up of Valentine's Day DIY garlands too.

Next up is a cool hanging bracket light. Sort of gives off a stylish industrial vibe and seems pretty easy to do. Found over at Remodelista. Shelterness also has a good DIY pendant roundup.

Do you have lots of shoe boxes piling up that you swear you'll do something with but haven't got around to yet? Here's an idea for the lids. Cover them in fabrics or pretty paper and hang as art. Learn more at 2Modern.

A mini paper box mobile. With all the colours, it would be especially fun for kids. But maybe a black and white one, or a monochromatic scheme could be more sophisticated. See how to at My Diy.

If you are feeling adventurous and bold, how about making some modern cement planters for your succulents, mosses, ferns, flowering plants, or whatever else you may have? They could add a stylish, modern, industrial quality to a room. See how to at 2Modern.

Check out this DIY sunburst clock made of wooden stir sticks. Quite smart I think. Head over to the super sweet Freckled Nest for instructions.

Here's a cute and stylish herringbone DIY mug idea by Wit and Whistle. Get full instructions there. They are right when they say that these could make good gifts too.

And last but not least, this has nothing to do with interiors but I couldn't resist. HOT CHOCOLATE ON A STICK. I love hot chocolate. The idea of sticking this cube (already adorned with marshmallows even!) into hot milk, stirring it around gently and watching the creamy chocolate melting swirls is making me very happy right now.  I must try this. Learn how at 30 Pounds of Apples - great idea.

On that note, stay warm and cozy people. Winter is not over yet, and I'm feeling quite cold these days.

... bis bald!

and then that mug & "urban looking pendant" as Igor says are on my favorite list since I stumbled upon them.

  5. I like the idea with the lamp. And that looks pretty easy to do. Wouldn't mind having some fun with concrete/cement either. Great material!

  6. @ Nordic Bliss: Thanks, Marianne! I am also pretty curious about the concrete vases - could be messy but that would make it fun, right?!

  10. When you click to the hanging bracket link, I love the solid oak bracket but would prefer it with the NUD classic pendant :-)
