a peaceful home by the sea

It seems I am seeking inner peace these days. I have been meditating 10 minutes a day - usually in the afternoon to calm myself. I feel a bit busy in my head. That said, you may understand why I am sharing this home.

I find it extremely peaceful without being boring. Of course the ocean views help - but also the colours and the shapes. Very soothing. Minus that American flag - no offence to my American friends, plus I support when people display pride in their identity. But I find it so out of place in this interior scheme. It's this only thing that seems to be shouting.

But yes, overall, perfectly peaceful.

This home was designed by Stelle Architects and found via Freshome.

How do you feel these days? Are you searching for some inner calm, like me?

Xx. Holly.

  1. I just saw that you were on your way to FFM. Say hi to my home town:) so you won't be back in Berlin till March, what a shame!!

I am always seeking inner peace. Sometimes I fair better at it than others. Recently I've also felt overwhelmed, probably due to the start of blogging:) which has taken up a lot of my time and energy. I hope that with experience it will get easier.

I love that home as a holiday home. Whenever travelling I want to stay in far more sparse spaces than my own home. I'm seeking the uncluttered and unfussy. However, to live in a place it would have to have more colours, more books, more artifacts. It has to have my stamp on it!

    1. Hi Tina! FFM says hello :) I was hoping that travelling south would come with a few extra degrees upward on the thermometer, but it's just a cold here. Brrrr. And since my apartment was vacant for almost 3 months it was freezing in here. I slept with my hat and scarf on and 2 huge blankets! Horrible night but this morning the temperature inside is nearing normal. Thank goodness!

I relate to what you say about achieving inner peace better in some moments than others. But I have felt the peace many times before, so I know it exists. It's maintaining the peace in tumultuous times that is the challenge. So I work on it :)

I also agree that this home definitely has a holiday feel to it - more so than a homey feel. Maybe that's why I'm attracted to it at this time - the escape, the getaway, the quiet.

      Happy Friday Xx.

  2. Hi Holly. What a wonderful home. Wood is just so calming and tranquil. The setting has me longing for some time away from the city to relax and gather my thoughts. I love the Papa Bear Chair. I agree with you that the American flag is out of place; it jars with what is otherwise a peaceful space.

    xx

  3. I really do love everything about this home - the architecture, the furniture, the natural light, the indoor/outdoor feel, and (of course) the views.
Yes, I am on a constant quest to find inner peace, or more appropriately for me at this time, balance. (You and I are on the same wavelength today. ;) How to achieve it? How to maintain it? Those are the burning questions. Once we figure it out, let's share. Perhaps you're onto something with the meditation.
    Have a wonderful, peaceful weekend!

    1. Glad you liked it Theresa! We really are on the same wavelength lately :) Meditation seems to help a lot - but that I have to do it everyday is strange somehow. I'm not going to fight this phase to hard, just let it pass. Wishing you a peaceful weekend too :)
