I get so excited when I see something that is intelligently designed - like this XY+Z suit rack by well-groomed-fox. Their slogan for this item is "a contemporary solution for a traditional ensemble". Good design is about facilitating life in an aesthetically pleasing way. This product embodies that idea.
Description from the designers:
"The XY+Z Suit Rack started out as an investigation into the habitual act of dressing, clothing and the storage of that clothing, and how in a contemporary environment we might move away from over flowing wardrobes and the floor carpeted with clothing. Through our investigation we felt there were many furniture pieces that support a relaxed behavior where the clothing is shed or tossed aside. So we asked: Could we reintroduce formality to the everyday act of dressing? – In particular for more formal or luxurious attire. Fashion and clothing like design is about the expression of self and ideas, but also enjoyment, pleasure and fun, so it followed for our creation that a furnishing for clothing should cater for the reflection of this expression of self and also have a sense of fun."
Inspired by the traditional valet clothing stand, this solution is modern and fun. I can't help but think of the time when my grandfather, being the skilled carpenter he is, fashioned one for my husband. That's when I first learned about valet clothing stands. After our relocation to Germany, we had to get rid of it, sadly. But this could be a great substitute ;) Personally I like the look of it and would gladly hang one in my bedroom. Although if you have a more traditional taste, this may not suit your aesthetic. Worry not, you could still benefit from its functional advantage by placing it in your walk in close or maybe on the inside of your closet door.
