I'm so into wood these days. Take a look at this sweet California home by Rockefeller Partners Architects, whose interior boasts a modern, cozy feel thanks to all that wonderful wood.

The floors, the ceilings, the columns and lots of accents throughout the home are made of wood. Wood brings a natural and organic warmth to any space - and comfort and coziness are so important in a home, even if you're into modern style. The beauty of this place is that even if you were to change out the furniture for more sleek, modern pieces (which would be more my thing), the place would remain equally warm. I really like the fact that the ceiling planks have been installed in the opposite direction of the floor planks. I'm also really appreciating the wooden horizontal partition on the staircase. It's really great for delineating the area without closing it off completely, which encourages a more open, airy feel. The kitchen has a nook-ish feeling to it and is really nicely designed and planned out. The pebble floors in the bathroom are amazing and again right on point with the natural allure. Some rooms have an awesome concrete floor - which I adore - and works to balance out all that warmth from the wood. It brings a cool raw element into the mix. Another important feature for balance in this home are the majestic floor to ceiling windows - typical of modern style and does wonders for allowing in the natural light, which is so important for interior spaces. Overall, I'm really enjoying this home. Of course, considering my crush on Tom Dixon, you can see how that picture with the pendant light above the night table makes me bit biased right?
What do you think? Do you love it? Too much wood for your taste? Any other Tom Dixon fans out there?

Love the Tom Dixon light above the bed side. Also love the Serien lights REEF in the bathroom and the Tobias Grau lights OH in the kitchen. LOVE the view!!
ReplyDeleteQuite a bit of wood, but achieves a warm, cosy feeling and very much like the combination of different styles including Asian pieces and different materials.
Agreed, agreed, agreed Marie :) Thank for the comment!
