    From experience, I can say that DiY is much better than having someone else do things for you. The fact that you can boast that the end result came from your hard work is already more than enough reward.

      I agree that a sense of pride and accomplishment is the biggest reward that comes from DIY projects. Also, DIY often involves creative reusing and recycling of materials that may just get thrown away, so that's a bonus too.
