Mini Terrariums Have Decor Appeal

via Bevara Design House
Mini terrariums have been quite the rage for a while now. I didn't realize they'd be such a phenomenon when I first started seeing them around. But these little guys are popular home decor items with good reason.

Terrariums are like their own ecosystems. You basically set it up, give it some moisture and then you just have to monitor and tend to it once in a while. Because of the closed nature of the terrarium, moisture gets recycled and a self-sustaining world is created. So yes, it's clear why terrariums are cool, but there's something very alluring about them in mini form. It's like a little science experiment right in your house, that doesn't require too much work and looks great. And if you are a plant killer like me, you'll appreciate them even more since they rarely need to be tended to.

It's funny how stylish they are, right? Some are super modern with a sort of other worldly quality to them. Others have this modern mid-century appeal.

I'm still thinking about why suddenly these mini terrariums are so popular. I think it may have something to do with our growing concern for the environment and the fact that more people are living in cities. Since they're so easy to maintain, it's a good way to feel connected to nature maybe. Or maybe its a result of the fantastic increasing trend towards supporting the hand-made or DIY movement. Maybe since we can make them ourselves and them being small gives them a hobby appeal. Or maybe as humans (on some primitive level) we like these small worlds because in comparison we feel big and powerful? ... ok, before we get into a whole other conversation, let's re-focus on what awesome little home decor items these mini terrariums make ;)

  1. tehee... plant killer ;)
how are the tiny leaves in the kitchen going?!

I am adoring succulents for their shapes and often "quiet" shades of green... consequently I also like terrariums, as they often include some.

They look quite decorative, while at the same time being alive. Like a unique, live piece of art each one of them :)
This hanging transparent, glass ball looks so fine!
